New Granary for Central Fife
Balbirnie Home Farms in Fife is to have a state-of-the-art granary in time for harvest 2013. The new grain handling facility, including a biomass powered burner, a new grain dryer and a multipurpose shed is to be built following a successful application for planning permission from Fife Council Replacing an aging drier, granary and small cattle shed, the new facility will result in improved efficiency, a reduction of 40 tonnes of carbon per year and an increase in grain storage capacity.
Shooting Season Over
Balbirnie Home Farms have finished the 2012/13 shooting season. There have been guests from all over the UK, Ireland and continental Europe enjoying the ducks, pheasants, grouse, snipe, woodcock, pigeons and even a couple of grey squirrels.
Quality Meat Scotland
Balbirnie Home Farms have been producing quality beef for many years. Quality Meat Scotland was set up in 1990 and Balbirnie Home Farms have been a member since first starting to produce finished cattle in 1996.
Balbirnie Home Farms Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot
Balbirnie Home Farms hosted a successful charity clay pigeon shoot on Sunday and raised £2,770 to be split equally between Diabetes Association for Fife Youngsters (DAFFY) and Paul O'Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre. 21 teams of 4 took part in a clay pigeon shooting competition and were joined by another 100 people for a pig-on-a-spit barbeque lunch, raffle and prize giving.
Summer?
Balbirnie Home Farms believes that summer has started as we've been to the Royal Highland Show, everybody has been on holiday and there's a new combine arriving in the next few days. Where did the sunshine go?
Driven Day Available
Due to unforeseen factors, a 100 bird driven day has become available at Balbirnie for the 2012/13 season.
