Shooting Season Over

Feb 14, 2013

Balbirnie Home Farms have finished the 2012/13 shooting season.  There have been guests from all over the UK, Ireland and continental Europe enjoying the ducks, pheasants, grouse, snipe, woodcock, pigeons and even a couple of grey squirrels.

The season started off with the charity clay pigeon shoot in August followed by a number of driven duck days on some of our well stocked ponds in September and October.  Starting around Halloween, there have been a mixture of rough walked up days and full driven days shooting mostly pheasants.  At the end of January, the gamekeeper had his own day and a big party in the bothy for all of the regulars.

Anybody who would like to see what's been going on this year, have a look at Linda Mellor's photographs.  Linda has joined the team on many occasions this season as part of her research to write a couple of articles in the shooting press.  Watch this space for news when these articles appear.

A big thank you to Cameron and Mhairi for getting everyone through the season.  Here's to a successful 2013/14 season and to some good weather over the summer.
